Star athletes Tiffany Thomas Lopez, Jeanette Antolin and Jamie Dantzscher, whose testimony helped bring a sexual predator to justice, teamed with State Senator Jerry Hill and Assemblymember Evan Low to urge support for Senate Bill 1448. SB 1448: The Patient’s Right Know Act would require doctors placed on probation for sexual misconduct and other serious professional misconduct to notify patients.

Assemblymember Low, D-Silicon Valley, has joined Senator Hill, D-San Mateo and Santa Clara Counties, as principal coauthor of the bill that would require doctors to notify patients of their status if placed on probation for sexual abuse or misconduct involving patients; drug or alcohol abuse that results in harm to patients or impairs the ability to practice safely; a criminal conviction involving harm to a patient’s safety or health; or inappropriate prescribing that resulted in harm to patients and a probationary period of five years or more.

The father of a CHP officer killed by an 18-year-old drugged driver who smoked marijuana voiced support for SB 1273 – Senator Jerry Hill's bill to establish a zero tolerance law for individuals under 21 who drive after consuming cannabis -- in a news conference on April 10, 2018.  Youth leaders from Students Against Destructive Decisions also spoke in favor of SB 1273 at the news conference that preceded a Senate Public Safety Committee hearing on the bill.

Olympians and other star athletes whose testimony helped bring a doctor to justice for sexually molesting scores of patients and women with abuse cases pending against doctors join state Senator Jerry Hill in a news conference to announce his introduction of Senate Bill 1448: The Patients’ Right to Know Act of 2018. The bill builds on his earlier efforts to pass patient safety legislation by requiring physicians and surgeons placed on probation in misconduct cases to notify patients.
