(Menlo Park) – Bringing together experts to talk about the challenges associated with preparing for floods and fire in San Mateo and Santa Clara counties are the goals of “Fire and Flood Insurance in the Time of Climate Change," a virtual town hall to be hosted by Senator Josh Becker (D-Peninsula), on Wednesday, October 12, from 4:30pm to 5:30pm. 




SACRAMENTO – A pioneering pilot program in the San Mateo County Community College District (SMCCCD) could allow all of its nearly 30,000 students to attend one of the district’s three campuses at a reduced or possibly no cost now that SB 893 (Becker) has been signed into law by Governor Gavin Newsom.




SACRAMENTO – Santa Clara, San Mateo and San Francisco counties will soon be able to launch a regional free pharmacy to re-purpose the multi-million dollars’ worth of surplus medications  discarded every year now thanks to the Governor’s signature on SB 1346 (Becker).




SACRAMENTO – People incarcerated in California state prisons, as well as those held in state and local juvenile detention facilities, will be able to make and receive phone calls free of charge beginning January 1, 2023, after SB 1008 (Becker) was signed into law Thursday night by Governor Gavin Newsom.
