South Bay high school students organize march against Asian American hat

Hundreds marched through downtown Mountain View to protest recent hate crimes against Asian Americans. The march began at the Mountain View Transit Center, which served as a processing center for Japanese Americans about to be interned during World War II, and made its way to Castro Street past outdoor diners, several of who stood and cheered and clapped for the marchers.

The march was organized by high schoolers Amanda Khu of Castilleja School, Jason Shan of Lynbrook High School and Daisy Kemp of Mountain View High School. Kemp was unable to attend the rally...

Senator Becker, who has been in office for three months, said he’s “from the Jewish community we know what it’s like to be victims of hate and we know how powerful it is when we all stand together, our community is more powerful when we all stand for each other.” He continued “saying the slurs are unacceptable, the acid tongue jokes are unacceptable, and surely the violence against our Asian American neighbors, and brothers and sister is unacceptable, we will not stand for it.”
