NBC Bay Area: This year, Deborah Carlino’s fifth-grade class brought their idea to their State Senator, Josh Becker. He was the one who introduced the resolution in the state Senate to make Ruby Bridges Day a statewide event. “They inspired me…these kids heard Ruby’s story. They were inspired by it and they acted on it.”




Patch: "The health and resilience of Californians and our economy depends on a clean energy future," Senator Josh Becker said. "California has a pressing need to accelerate the expansion of our clean energy supply in order to meet our climate targets."




Patch: Five climate and equity bills authored by state Sen. Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) have either passed or are close to landing on the governor's desk after they cleared the Assembly Appropriations Committee last week.




InMenlo: Due to the pandemic Parker Brown’s Boy Scout Troop 206 isn’t currently holding group activities. But Parker’s family and friends gathered last Sunday in his Menlo Oaks backyard for his Eagle Scout Court of Honor. Among those honoring Parker was state senator Josh Becker.




Mercury News: “I’m really proud that Menlo Park has been a leader and is putting out one of the strongest climate change plans in the state,” said state Senator Josh Becker. “We’ve all seen the urgency of climate change, and we have to move faster and be bolder. The intersection with the Green New Deal in all this is that there are job opportunities as we work to make homes more energy-efficient and also move to electric appliances and green construction.”




San Mateo Daily Journal: Assembly Speaker pro Tem Kevin Mullin, D-South San Francisco, had a joint request with state Sen. Josh Becker, D-San Mateo, for $500,000 to repair and replace damage to the Pacifica Municipal Pier. The city received funding for the project through Senate Bill 129, also known as the June 28 Budget Package which was signed by the Gov. Gavin Newsom July 12.




Palo Alto Weekly:While the bill's recent victories in Sacramento offer hope for advocates of police reform, the success of SB 2 will likely hinge on whether Bradford and other bill sponsors manage to make the needed compromises to retain Democratic support when the bill returns to the upper chamber. State Sen. Josh Becker, D-Menlo Park, who enthusiastically supported the bill during the May 26 hearing, said he is confident that this will happen. "I believe we do need to continue to build greater detail around the facts that merit decertification and the extent of retroactivity," Becker said during the Senate hearing.




Mountain View Voice: In order to cobble together enough cash to pay for the project, which now exceeds $114 million, Alta Housing is tapping into more funding from Santa Clara County's Measure A bond and more funding through federal housing vouchers. The project also leverages $8 million in state funding, which was appropriated through SB 129 with help from State Sen. Josh Becker.
