Dear Friends, As reports of hate crimes have grown in California, we must combat violence and hate by raising community awareness and increasing support for targeted groups. That’s why I am hosting a bystander intervention training to provide tools to de-escalate and to stop a hate incident before it leads to violence. I invite you to join me for this Bystander Intervention Training, conducted by Usmaan Alloo from the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) San Francisco Bay Area, and sponsored by the San Mateo County AAPI Task Force, the San Mateo API Caucus, and AAPI Silicon Valley. We will also hear from Millbrae Councilmember Anders Fung, who recently experienced anti-AAPI violence. Our experts will share their perspectives on what residents in San Mateo County and Santa Clara County can do to keep themselves and their loved ones safe, as well as how to safely and nonviolently stand up for our community members if an incident should occur. Together, we can stop hate.
