California's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform sees 500,000 sign-ups
SACRAMENTO, Calif. - More than 500,000 Californians have signed up for the state's Delete Request and Opt-out Platform (DROP) since it launched on January 1.
The platform allows residents to request deletion of their personal information from data brokers in a single submission.
According to the California Privacy Protection Agency (CalPrivacy), data brokers have already reported deletion of tens of millions of records. The platform requires data brokers to delete eligible personal information or face significant fines.
