Expanding Access to Higher Education

The Senate Education Committee passed Senator Josh Becker’s bill to help make community college more affordable to the students most in need. SB 659 empowers California community college districts to expand access to underserved students. The Education Committee’s 7-0 vote on April 14 enables Senator Becker’s bill to move forward in the legislative process. SB 659 now heads to the Senate Appropriations Committee for a fiscal review.
