Welcome to my Good News Climate Blog!

Coming out of COP30 in Belém and the UN Local Leaders Forum in Rio, I was overwhelmed with one feeling that was at great variance with the feeling of the day: there is LOTS of good climate news!!

Progress at all levels! Country, state, regional, city—good news abounds!!

So in Brazil I resolved to launch a Good News Climate Blog!

And this is it!

In this blog, I’ll highlight the work that gives me hope in our shared fight for a sustainable future. I’ll be spotlighting stories at home in California and around the globe, from community-level initiatives to international cooperative efforts.

Across the UN Climate Conference and the UN Local Leaders Forum in Brazil in November, and Climate Week NYC in September, I was able to share good news from California with my colleagues, and learn from their diverse stories of collaboration, innovation, and success. There’s so much good news to share—and I want to share it with you, too!

I’m glad to share what I have learned in discussions with leaders around the world, from my bilateral meeting with Martin Krause, Director of the Climate Change Division of the UN Environmental Programme, to my conversation with New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham about collaborative climate leadership on clean energy and fuels. I’m amplifying those stories as a reminder of continued local and global commitments to addressing the climate crisis at every scale.

As Trump and the federal administration do everything they can to increase energy prices and impede climate progress, I will continue to stand for climate action in California and beyond. I hope that you’ll join me in highlighting climate wins, and that you’ll find strength and inspiration in these stories as I do.
