Creating Change |
Year One Legislative Update
This past Sunday was the last day for the Governor to sign or veto bills. I’m proud to report the Governor signed all 7 of my bills! Together, these bills represent significant steps forward to address quality of life issues here on the Peninsula as well as lead on climate change and economic opportunities for all. You can read a recap of my first year in the San Mateo Daily Journal here. I’m so proud to have had the opportunity to advocate for so many important causes and look forward to getting even more done next year. Until then, you can read all of my bills, including the ones we will continue to work on next year, here.
Climate Action
There is a lot happening over at my Getting to Zero blog! Click here to learn more about my plans to advance climate policy in 2022, encouraging divestment from fossil fuel funds for the investment community, achieving zero-carbon electricity by 2045, and how I envision 24/7 clean energy here in California.
Additionally, I will be attending the United Nations Climate Change Conference UK 2021 (COP26) in Glasgow, Scotland later this month with a small delegation of California state legislators. This conference comes at a critical moment in history. The changes necessary to address climate change are daunting--but not impossible. Read my piece in CalMatters on what’s at stake and two goals for California here.
I look forward to reporting back on what I’ve learned in a future edition of Creating Change!
