Money Will Go Towards New Computer Equipment, Technology Upgrades

South San Francisco, CA – Assemblymember Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, presented a check for $5,000 to Spruce Elementary School today in South San Francisco. Assemblymember Hill visited Spruce school in February and applied for the grant funds, noting the school’s outstanding academic achievements but out-of-date computers and electronic equipment.

Assemblymember Jerry Hill (D-San Mateo) will honor Nona’s Kitchen this Friday with his April Environmental Leadership Award for voluntary using only biodegradable products rather than Styrofoam food containers. The restaurant also recycles their cooking oil, buys from local farmers and uses environmentally friendly cleaning products. Each month Assemblymember Hill recognizes entities within the 19th Assembly District that demonstrate environmentally sound and sustainable practices.

Council to Oversee Federal Stimulus Dollars for Law Enforcement

Sacramento, CA – On Friday, April 3, Assemblymember Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, was appointed by Assembly Speaker Karen Bass to serve on the California Council on Criminal Justice.  The Council reviews and revises the comprehensive state plan for the improvement of criminal justice and delinquency prevention while establishing priorities for the use of available federal funds.

Bills Advance to Reduce State Costs and Ensure Absentee Votes Are Counted

Sacramento, CA – The Assembly Elections Committee voted 7-0 in favor of AB 84, legislation authored by Assemblymember Jerry Hill, D-San Mateo, which gives Californians who vote by mail the ability to verify that their ballots were counted.  Among those who testified in support of the bill was Warren Slocum, Chief Elections Officer for the County of San Mateo.  The bill now heads to the Appropriations Committee.
