Sacramento, CA — Senator Josh Becker (D–Menlo Park) today introduced SB 1142, the Digital Dignity Act, landmark legislation to protect Californians from the growing threat of harmful AI-generated digital replicas. 

The bill strengthens legal protections against defamation and impersonation using artificial intelligence and establishes new accountability standards for large online platforms that create and host generative AI content.

MENLO PARK, CA — Senator Josh Becker (D-Menlo Park) today announced that his district office has launched an emergency food drive in response to the federal government shutdown, which could halt SNAP benefits as soon as November 1st. The loss of SNAP (also known as CalFresh or EBT) would leave thousands of families across Senate District 13, including women, children, and seniors, without critical support to put food on the table.




SACRAMENTO, CA – Governor Gavin Newsom has signed into law legislation that modernizes California’s Unclaimed Property Law by clearly defining how virtual currencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum are to be treated. SB 822 ensures that abandoned virtual currencies are handled just like stocks—safeguarded by the State Controller’s Office until they can be reunited with their rightful owners.
