A Morning in the Life of Josh
As the 2023 California State legislative session comes to a close, I’d like to use this month’s newsletter as an opportunity to give you a glimpse into the fast-paced months, weeks, days and hours that lead up to the governor signing or vetoing thousands of bills.
On September 9, I was honored to receive the Outstanding Legislator of the Year Award from the CA County Boards of Education! We have outstanding board members in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties and incredible Superintendents Nancy Magee of San Mateo and Mary Ann Deway of Santa Clara County.
Summer is quickly coming to an end, and Legislators have returned to the State Capitol for the final stretch of passing legislation before the end of the year.

While we certainly need the rain, it’s startling to see the amount of damage the accompanying wind storms have done to homes and businesses in the area. Tens of thousands of people lost power, mostly in San Mateo County, in the late February storms and it is just unacceptable that our electricity grid seems to be so fragile.
