What I hear from you is you want me to tackle big problems like the climate crisis, homelessness, education and public safety. This year we have done that and more! I’m thrilled to report that early yesterday morning, my colleagues and I closed on the books on one of the more productive legislative sessions in recent memory.

This summer we approved key investments for the recovery and resiliency of Californians and our state, while banking hefty reserves. We also must prepare for a potential downturn. That’s why I advocated for budgeting as much towards the state’s reserves as possible.

I was absolutely devastated to hear about the tragic shooting in Texas on Tuesday. It marked the 213th mass shooting in 2022. The relentless gun violence facing our nation is completely unfathomable.

It has been such an honor representing the people of the 13th Senate District in our California State Senate. Since being sworn into office in 2020, I have learned so much and am proud of what we’ve accomplished.

Last week I returned from the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference where I had the honor of representing California along with a group of my legislative colleagues.

This past Sunday was the last day for the Governor to sign or veto bills. I’m proud to report the Governor signed all 7 of my bills!
