I was absolutely devastated to hear about the tragic shooting in Texas on Tuesday. It marked the 213th mass shooting in 2022. The relentless gun violence facing our nation is completely unfathomable.

It has been such an honor representing the people of the 13th Senate District in our California State Senate. Since being sworn into office in 2020, I have learned so much and am proud of what we’ve accomplished.

Last week I returned from the COP26 UN Climate Change Conference where I had the honor of representing California along with a group of my legislative colleagues.

This past Sunday was the last day for the Governor to sign or veto bills. I’m proud to report the Governor signed all 7 of my bills!

Legislative Wrap-Up I learned so much during my first legislative session, which ended September 10th. In all, my team and I were able to send 7 bills to the Governor’s desk for signature (with one already signed!) and pass one Senate Resolution. Together, these bills advance our state’s efforts--and my priorities--to fight climate change, instill a more equal justice system, and increase opportunities for economic mobility.

Californians across the state have struggled financially during this COVID-19 pandemic due to lost or reduced incomes.

The State’s eviction moratorium has protected Californians from evictions due to lost income. This moratorium is scheduled to end on September 30th, but those who have applied for federal rental assistance cannot be evicted for six months.
